3 has launched a free mobile phone tariff. This the 3  strategy to get market share from the consumers who want the convenience of paying their phone bill on a regular basis at the end of each month, but don’t want to be tied to an 18-month contract. Only just one month’s notice customers can cancel their contract for no extra charge

Andy Nutall, head of pay monthly at 3 said “Where once the £35 a month contract was common place, prices are now falling ,We launched the first £9 contract and other networks have followed suit. Some networks have gone as low as £5, but are handcuffing customers to a three-year commitment”.

“This is the new challenge, customer come to us , and  when they’re at home in the UK they’ll never have to pay for a Skype call or instant message. This offers the customers minimal ties, for customers who are fearful of commitment”. His said adding his statement.

The tariff entitles users to make free Skype calls to other Skype users, directly through their handset, and send free instant messages through Windows Live Messenger. It’s also free to retrieve voicemail messages in the UK, while standard rate calls are charged at 20p per minute, texts cost 10p each, and data usage is charged at 30 per megabyte.
